Anna Maria Wierød was born into a family of Danish musicians in 1985. From an early age they nurtured and inspired in Anna Maria a passion for baroque and renaissance music and its clear and vibrato free vocal aesthetic. In 2008 she gained her Bachelor of Arts at the Royal Akademie of Music in Århus in the vocal class of Lars T. Bertelsen.

It was while studying with Harry van der Kamp at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen during the following year that Anna met Pantagruel. Upon hearing her they were immediately convinced that she was destined to be Pantagruel’s new singer.

Anna’s performance experiences outside of early music include musicals, opera, rock music and numerous classical solo performances with both choirs and orchestras. She received inspiration through partaking in numerous courses concerning historical performance, dance and gesture with among others Jill Feldmann, Dorothy Irvining & Kirsten Buhl.
